I apologize for such a late post today, I was in meetings all afternoon. But today was a pretty nice day overall except for the colder temperatures. But tonight will be the coldest night of this blast as we are expecting temperatures to drop below freezing across all of southern Kentucky, some areas may drop down into the upper 20s. You will want to make sure that you either bring in, or cover any early season vegetation that you may have already planted because temperatures this low could cause serious damage to unprotected plants.
Current Surface Analysis via WPC |
The good news is that even though it is going to be cold, there is no snow to worry about this time around. Conditions will remain pretty dry across all of SOKY, with winds even becoming calmer. The current surface map pictured above shows an area of high pressure building in over all of the southern United States. With this high pressure conditions will be able to clear out making skies be clear and the winds calm, thus allowing for a potential freeze. Because of this the National Weather Service has placed all of Kentucky under a Freeze WARNING.
Forecast:
Tonight: Mostly clear skies and COLD (Freeze Warning), calm winds. Low: 27°
Tomorrow: Cool temperatures under mostly sunny skies, with a light east wind at 5-10 mph. High: 58°
Tomorrow Night: Clear skies with a southeast wind at 5-10 mph, another cold night. Low: 36°
